The above principles have been applied in the definition of the Shirley Web site privacy policy.

  • No information shall be collected from any user of the Shirley Methodist Web site by any automated means without the users consent, other than anonymous site usage statistics.

  • No information shall be placed on the web site users machine without the users knowledge and consent. This shall include cookies.

  •  The web-site user, when given the option of signing a guest book or requesting a ministerial or pastoral visit, shall be advised of his/her rights under the Data Protection act and/or the option of viewing the Shirley Methodist Web site privacy policy on-line.

  •  The guest book shall be used for the purpose of allowing the web site user to register comments on the web site. The guest book will record only the user name, address (optional) and the comment.

  •  The only other purpose for which personal data will be collected will be to allow the web site user to request a pastoral or ministerial visit or request a copy of Teamspirit. For this purpose the user will be asked to provide Name, address, Telephone Number, E-mail address and reason for visit. Pastoral or ministerial visits will only be considered within the normal geographical region for pastoral visits from Shirley Methodist Church. Correspondence with web site users from outside this region will be at the discretion of the Minister or Pastoral team. Such requests will not be forwarded to a more appropriate Methodist Minister or pastoral team without the consent of the web site user.

  •  Personal Data about those requesting a pastoral visit may only be added to the pastoral database for longer term storage with the permission of the Web site user.

Church Member Privacy

  •  E-mails to the web-master, the minister or the pastoral team shall be sent to the web site email address/addresses and automatically forwarded from there to the minister or pastoral team. E-mails will then be automatically deleted from the web site mailbox. The web master or web authors shall not have the right / ability / access permissions to read e-mails to the minister or pastoral team. Direct e-mail communication with the web site user shall be at the Minister or pastoral team’s discretion.

  •  The web master may be asked by the minister / pastoral team to prevent spamming from any particular web site user and the web master will be authorised to take appropriate steps including discovering the identity of the spammer and if relevant reading the e-mails.

  •  The names, addresses and details of adult church members shall not be included on the web site without prior written permission of the individual.

  •  Pictures of individuals shall only be included with the permission of the adult concerned. Group pictures shall only be included with the permission of the group leader on behalf of the group. Pictures of, for example the whole congregation where individuals cannot be identified may be included at the discretion of the web-team.
