May Day Bank Holiday
Weekend (3rd -5th
May)
Saturday (and Sunday): Community Action Days
There are a number of projects planned including car washing,
gardening, decorating, litter-picking and helping to clear the park
after the Donkey Derby. There are several gardening projects that
have been requested for members of our own Church.
If you want information
about specific projects, please see Bill Russell.
Or you can just turn up on
Saturday at the Bridge at 11.00 for worship, prayer and briefing
about the projects. Teams
will have lunch together (please bring a packed lunch) before
leaving for the projects by 12.30 which should finish by 5.30. Some
projects may continue on Sunday afternoon, but there is no
obligation to volunteer any more time than you are able.
Monday: Family Fun Day in Shirley Park
The aim is for as many people from the
Shirley
Churches to be out and
about in the park from about 12.00 to take HOPE into the park area.
There will be a barbecue at
the Bridge (small charge) at 12.30 followed by some organised sports
and other fun activities. Please
come and take part, or just come to watch! There will be a free
concert at about 3.00 (see below)
Come and Sing.
Jean Hamilton is organising a ‘scratch’ choir to sing some well
known ‘songs from the shows’ and perform these at the Family Fun Day
at about 3.00. Rehearsals
will be on the day from 11.30 - 12.30 and 1.30 - 2.30 at the Bridge
(with a break for the barbecue). Words
